Enerpac has gained unique expertise in delivering hydraulic solutions for the controlled movement and positioning of structures.
Skidding System for Transformer Outage Maintenance
The Bonneville Power Administration needs to maneuver and replace transformers at their power plants and stations during outages. During an outage, the maintenance team often needs to replace a transformer. Their existing process for replacing a transformer required multiple workers operating different pieces of equipment in coordination. BPA was seeking equipment to simplify and improve the safety of their current process.

Relocating a 70 ton Press with a Hydraulic Gantry Reduces Downtime
International machinery installations and removals specialist, JH Kemp Ltd, has used an Enerpac SL400 telescopic hydraulic gantry to relocate a Wilkins and Mitchell press weighing 70 Tons at Salop Design & Engineering, a metal pressings and assemblies’ manufacturer in Telford, UK. Lifting and moving the press was completed over a weekend, saving Salop Design & Engineering three weeks in lost production.

Container Crane Installed Using Synchronous Lifting System
Optimum weight distribution is fundamental to the safety and ongoing reliability of a container crane. Accurately lifting, weighing, and positioning an 800 ton container crane on the rails is critical to achieving ideal weight distribution. Existing methods of lifting port cranes typically involve whole teams of lifting personnel manually coordinating lifts with a standard pump without stroke control or weighing capabilities. Such methods are typically not accurate in lifting and do not provide any input concerning weight distribution.

Lowering and Leveling a Caisson Pier Box for New Johnson Street Bridge
The existing 90-year-old Johnson Street Bridge is located at the heart of Victoria, B.C. and is in the process of being replaced with a new bridge that will serve the community for the next 100 years. The new bridge is being built adjacent to the existing bridge, allowing the important transportation connection into Victoria's downtown to remain open during construction. The new bridge design includes a 25 meter long by 20 meter wide bascule pier box which will house the mechanical and electrical componentry for opening and closing the bridge span across the marine harbor.

Jacking & Skidding a Tunnel Boring Machine for the Next Drilling Phase
In 2013, Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, broke ground on a mass rapid transit (MRT) system in hope to alleviate the city’s traffic congestion. The rail-based MRT is expected to stretch across over 108 kilometers. A tunnel boring machine (TBM) is being used to construct the underground routes. One of the critical phases of the tunnel construction is the pass through, in which the TBM needs to be moved through the underground stations to be relocated to the next drilling position.

Undecking an Electric Rope Shovel in a Copper Mine with a Jack-up System
Elko Wire Rope, a privately-owned provider of manufactured rigging products in the mining industry, selected Enerpac’s JS-500 Jack-up System to undeck an electric rope shovel at a copper mine site located in Southwestern USA. The entire upper works of the rope shovel needed to be lifted for an inspection on the bearings and have maintenance repairs performed. The machine weighs approximately 1,500 tons, requiring lifting with significant force and control.

Stud Removal on a Stacker Reclaimer with Hydraulic Tensioners
Removing the 3 meter long studs on the bucket wheel drive output of a Sandvik stacker reclaimer is a difficult and lengthy operation. Operating conditions corroded the studs and the confined location of the stud does not allow access with traditional removal equipment. Previous operations required more than 10 hours to remove each stud and used up to 120 tons of force to push and pull a total of 16 studs.

Replacing the Elvira Railroad Bridge Span with a Jack-up System
The Elvira Railroad Bridge, built in 1906, spanned across the Cahaba River in Helena, Alabama. The old double-track open deck superstructure had reached the end of its useful life and was scheduled for replacement with a new single-track ballasted deck superstructure. Burkhalter, lifting, rigging and transport professionals, was selected to execute the replacement of Span 2 over the river.

Tunnel Boring Machine Launched with EVO Synchronous Lifting System
The construction of the 4.5 km Waterview Connection motorway included the deployment of an Earth Pressure Balance Machine to bore a 2.5 km underground twin tunnel. Commencing the tunneling process required positioning the 3,600 ton tunnel boring machine into its starting position.

Installing Pylon Sections of a Cable-Stayed Bridge with a SyncHoist
Gotowski constructed a 200 meter long cable-stayed "University Bridge" to connect two parts of Bydgoszcz separated by the Brda River. The bridge's design requires the erection of two 68 meter tall pylons (towers) to support the bridge deck. Constructed in sections, the pylons weighed 90 to 130 tons and needed to be positioned with precise accuracy.
